MSS Release Date, and New Blog!
5 years ago466 words
I've got a release date for Memody: Sindrel Song: Wednesday 7th of August 2019! I've also set up this blog, separate from my personal one, to post development-specific notes.

I started Memody: Sindrel Song at about the start of the year, and assumed it'd be finished within a month, at most. Now, more than half a year later, I'm finally able to say that I'm ready to release it!! This is a fairly big thing, partly because my past track record hasn't been great regarding finishing the projects I start and devote months of my life to, but also because I built this game while recovering from brain cancer treatment, while dealing with various mental health issues as well. I've written more about that - and the game - on the ∞ sindrelsong.com ∞ site.

About three and a half years ago, I set up a personal blog, ∞ Taming the Mind ∞, largely to talk about psychology and overcoming mental illness, which I thought was the direction my life was heading in, away from games. Since then, I've posted there more often than anywhere else online, but as I've got back into games development, I've ended up posting a lot about my thoughts and progress regarding development on that blog, despite it not really being made for that purpose. I've decided to keep two blogs: one for my crazed rantings, the other - this one - for stuff specifically about my games development where I can at least give the illusion of not being a gibbering lunatic. Back in the day, when I used to make Flash games, I used to vent about personal issues on my development blog, and a lot of people didn't like that, so this separation seems like a good idea.

So I'll keep updating Taming the Mind when I have things on my mind, and I'll update this one whenever I've got development-related thoughts to share. Not just announcements, but stuff about the actual game design process as well.

I've also now got two Twitter accounts, for those who are interested in such things. I've had my @Alora_Fane one for ages but rarely use it, and I've set up an @AloraFaneGames one specifically for games-related stuff, which I'm actually getting help running. Follow those if you want to keep up with me or my work!

I'm intending to set multiple games in the world of Alora Fane, which I've done a bit of worldbuilding for over the years. I've written out some of it on the Lore page of this site, but I'll continue updating that with information and pretty pictures and such when I have the time and motivation to do so. It's sort of bare-bones as I write this!
