Pokemon's popular again. I like this, because I've always liked Pokemon, ∞ as I wrote at tedious length in my personal blog ∞. Making a Pokemon-like game myself is probably the idea I've returned to the most over the years, and that flame has been rekindled by Pokemon GO. Before diving into yet another project I'll fail to finish, however, I'd like to revisit and review my old attempts at making a monster catching game; what I feel worked or didn't.

Urgh. I've been in the grip of that dark demon that is depression recently, and I've got exams next week (already), so work's been slower than usual and I've been neglecting correspondence (and basically avoiding people in the real world; not a good thing, that). Sorry about that, if you've been waiting for a reply! I have however got to the point with Taming Dreams where I no longer have anything left to do before it's ready for release. Oh, and I've added a microtransaction shop. Surely that'll be a popular idea.

I made some fairly major changes to the way that MARDEK works today! Many people have said that the thing they liked most about the originals was learning skills from equipment, and others have said of the new version that the lack of numerical character growth following agitation leaves the experience more hollow than it might otherwise be. So I've added a 'level up' sort of system which isn't entirely dissimilar to the skill-learning of the old version!

Progress on Episode 3 isn't going as quickly as I'd hoped (as I'm having to contend with my own mind during the process), but it's not going slowly either. I was hoping to have two or three different screenshots by now, but I just have one for now!

I'm still working on a cleaner draft of the overall story of MARDEK, and I've come up with a few ideas in the process that make it more interesting than if I'd just gone with what I wrote a few months ago... which is good! Also, in the original version of MARDEK, you could talk to your allies at any time... which I'd removed in this reboot in favour of having visible thoughts from them in the equipment screen. However, I realised how valuable such a feature can be, and I've added a hopefully even better version of it...
