Hm, Sindrel Song will be out soon. I'll try to have a blog out about it around the time of the release, for however much that'll matter. I hope the game release goes well!

I would be interested in a Taming Dreams continuation through Talky Thing! I do question the video format though, one advantage of a game format is that players can advance dialogue at their own pace, having a video format means some people will think the pace is too slow, or too fast. You'd also need good recording software and whatnot, and you'd be limited to whatever resolution YT has, probably 1080P.

Still, I wouldn't mind having like purely-story content. It certainly would cut out a lot of development time, and it seems to be your main appeal with some of your recent games.

Kickstarter is an interesting route, but it does have its pitfalls. The biggest pitfall that even many successful Kickstarters fall into is DON'T PROMISE TOO MUCH.

You might've heard stories about Order of the Stick's successful Kickstarter where Rich Burlew wound up going way overboard with stretch goals, to the point that he's still working on getting through the Kickstarter backlog while also juggling the main comic and physical releases. Shovel Knight's a good example to, it's probably the most polished Kickstarter game, but they're still working on it and releasing new content because they promised a truckload of features and extra game modes and campaigns and whatnot. Even Undertale had some stretch goals it just couldn't meet.

That said, the upsides can be worth it. I'm surprised at how well some games can do and how they can suddenly pull traction seemingly out of nowhere. Just keep the main goal, stretch goals, pledge rewards and overall expectations in check while also having a good hook and something tangible (a demo or proof of concept video) to offer. Those seem to be the basics of a successful Kickstarter.

I do hope you make this archive! Having all your games, finished or beta, in one spot would be nice to have! I do think there are plenty of generous souls out there who'd be willing to give up some money for the many hours of fun you gave them.

I'm curious, if you would put out AF:C, would you have any of your own quests in there? I remember AF:C so well, playing other people's quests and making my own. I still sometimes think back to my Sorrowlad quests, I must've made like eight of those! I've been meaning to write about my plans for the rest for the few people who did play them all... At times like those I totally understand why you can't continue on working on MARDEK but also keep putting off writing a plot synopsis!

I hope you'd also put in some of your old stuff like Beast Signer, Miasmon, Cyber Ortek Flier and whatnot.

Originally I wanted to have the Talky Thing run directly in the browser, so it'd be like a webcomic in how it was accessed, and of course it'd allow the viewer/'player' to progress at their own pace, which is important. But it's not really possible, annoyingly, to do that in a way that's widely accessible on most devices (or which is easy for me to make). Getting 3D to work in browsers is still really rudimentary, surprisingly, or at least it was when I checked this a couple of years ago.

It's why I first made it as this: [LINK]

But that's so lacking compared to what I could do with emoting 3D models.

Videos would be easy to access and share, and the only downside is the lack of control. So it seems like there'd be annoyance whatever I tried with it, which makes me wonder whether it'd even be viable.

I'll need to do research about Kickstarter (like I totally have with releasing a game...), to know how best to approach it. Something I definitely don't want to do though is offer more than I can provide! Having to provide pledge rewards is the main thing that's always put me off it, and I wonder whether I'd be able to get away with minimising those. I'd forgotten stretch goals were a thing, and I wasn't aware that Rich Burlew was still working on his (even though I keep up with the comic still), so that's interesting to know. I'll definitely be trying to keep things realistic though. I've already made so many unfinished things and don't want to do that again!

I spent yesterday playing some of my old games, with mixed feelings... I need to get Flash again though and I'm not sure how; it's obsolete now, replaced with 'Animate', and while I can find links to "ADOBE FLASH PROFESSIONAL CC 2014 CRACK" etc, they seem so untrustworthy...

The main reason I didn't release AF:C was because the quests I was making to bundle with it were born of a very dark mental time and I don't think they're appealing. They're certainly embarrassing now, even though I like the game as a whole. So I'm unsure what to do about including some of my own. I definitely should include some... There's a tutorial quest that I played yesterday, and that made me laugh a few times and didn't annoy me very much, so if nothing else there'll be that. I don't know if I'll be setting up anything to make it easy for people to share their creations though. I'm not expecting much interest so it doesn't seem worth it, but we'll see how it goes.
