Ok, so maybe i've watched too much transformers or anime about mecha, but that definitely looks like some kind of humanoid robot crouching.

I'd imagine if commanded to it can just strand straight and walk ?

Also, there currently is a theory that tries to explain how they can be so many descriptions that match throughout the years: the aliens traveled through time.
EG, it's 2030 for them, and a whole fleet is asked to study humanity. To do it faster, they travel to Earth but at different times. Spaceship 1 goes to 3000 BC earth; spaceship 2 goes 100 years after that, and so on.
Then all ships come back to their home planet in 2030, and hand a report on what they observed.
In the span of a very short alien time, they get knowledge of thousands of years of human history. And they are sighted every now and then in earth time.

Something I've noticed from showing this to people is that most people try and relate it to something familiar (often something crude).

And I'd say it's not too different when people wonder about how supposed alien sightings could fit with what we already know about reality ("it'd take them too long to get here", "why would they care about us?", "they must travel through time").

It's very difficult for us to imagine truly alien concepts, designs, or abilities in the same way it would have been beyond the Ancient Egyptians to conceive of VR AI sex bots. They're probably as incomprehensible as our behaviour and technology is to our pets. The internet isn't just slightly outside a dog's comprehension, it's in an entirely different universe, and the dog wouldn't even have the capacity to understand it no matter how hard it tried.

Going by that logic, isn't it very human to imagine aliens traveling through space in a spaceship ?

That's how WE thought of doing it, but maybe aliens have other means of transportation, especially if their body structure is different.

Yes, it's like telling someone from hundreds of years ago that you just sent a message to someone on the other side of the planet, and they scoff at how impractical that is because it takes months to sail that far by ship. The 'travel' via the internet that our world pretty much runs on is incomprehensible to them because it uses technology they've yet to even imagine.
